DeMarcus Lawrence Training in Miami

The Boise State defensive end was the Cowboys' second round draft pick a year ago

Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is getting a head start on offseason workouts.

Lawrence is in Miami, FL, training at Bommarito Performance Systems, according to the Dallas Morning News. He said Tuesday morning on Twitter: “Back to my roots in Florida to train. Starting from scratch. Got to get after it. #thereisnooffseason”

After being selected out of Boise State in the second round of last year’s draft, Lawrence suffered a fractured foot in training camp and missed the Cowboys’ first nine games.

Lawrence finished the regular season with a modest 11 tackles, including one for a loss, but made his presence felt in the postseason. In the Cowboys’ two playoff games, against the Lions and the Packers, he recorded a pair of sacks, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. One of those fumble recoveries clinched the Cowboys' win over the Lions in the Wild Card Round.
