Dallas Unlikely To Cut Williams

We know lot of folks around Dallas won’t like the idea of seeing Roy Williams in a Cowboys jersey for another season, because a lot of folks around Dallas just aren’t fans of Roy Williams, but it appears that he will return for another season of football in 2011, if there is a season of football in 2011.

This is because, as the Dallas Cowboys official website pointed out recently, the Cowboys will still owe Williams $12.9 million if he is cut. Granted, $12.9 is a hefty price for a no. 3 receiver--but it’s even more steep for a guy not even on the roster.

It’s worth adding as well that, before Tony Romo went down in 2010, before Jon Kitna came in, that Roy Williams was having a pretty good season for Dallas--in fact, each of his five touchdown receptions last year came in the first six weeks of the season, when a healthy Romo was at the helm.

So perhaps he’ll return to form when Romo returns in 2011--maybe. In any case, it does appear that however he does, Williams will do so in blue and silver.
