Dallas Cowboys Linebacker Cleared of Aggravated Assault Charges

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson has been cleared of aggravated assault charges over a Fourth of July dispute in which he was accused of brandishing a rifle and making threats in a Frisco parking lot.

A Collin County grand jury decided not to indict the player.

Police said they arrested Wilson for aggravated assault near Toyota Stadium on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The arrest occurred in the stadium's parking lot during Frisco's Freedom Fest.

According to an arrest report, Wilson was arrested "when he intentionally backed his truck into a female while parking, then brandished a rifle at another male causing him to be in fear."

Wilson is a fourth-round pick out of Minnesota in 2015.

He was freed on $20,000 bond shortly after his arrest.

Wednesday afternoon, Wilson tweeted, "It's a beautiful day don't u all agree."

Wilson was injured in July 2016 in a freak accident when a stray paintball struck his right eye.

The injury forced the linebacker to miss the first two weeks of training camp because blood in that eye impaired his vision.

"It's one of those things you look back on and [understanding] it was just foolish," Wilson told NBC 5 when he returned to camp last year. "Camp was right around the corner and you're out there doing something foolish. It was just not smart."

NBC 5's Noelle Walker contributed to this report.
