It has become an annual tradition at Valley Ranch: Cowboys veterans asked during the offseason about the pressure they feel to win a Super Bowl before their careers run out.
“I think we’re all aware of where we’re at in our careers, but you can’t really think of that,” Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said. “We have important jobs to do.”
The Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl since January of 1996 and have managed just three playoff victories since that championship.
“I think you always have something to prove to yourself, your teammates, the organization, coaches, fans, everybody,” Romo said. “You want to do well for a lot of people. For me, obviously, there’s an ultimate goal. We all have that.”
And as the clock ticks louder with each season that passes, the pressure to meet that ultimate goal seems to increase.
“Every time we step out (on the field), there’s an extreme amount of urgency,” Witten said.
