Cowboys-Texans Preseason Game Canceled

Thursday night's preseason game between Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans has been canceled at the request of the Texans.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was the first to tweet that the preseason game set for 7 p.m. at AT&T Stadium was canceled.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Houston, but was moved to Arlington due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. The Texans players and staff have since decided they wanted to return home to be with their families.

"That's our city. It's very tough to watch our city get hit by such a bad storm and not be there to help," said Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who has helped raise more than $5 million toward relief efforts through YouCaring.

Proceeds from the game were going to be donated to the United Way of Greater Houston Relief Fund, which supports the efforts of the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Officials said anyone who purchased a ticket to the game can have their money refunded or donated to relief efforts.

More details to come.
