Report: Cowboys Sign CB Brandon Carr

The deal is reportedly worth $50.1 million over five years

The Dallas Cowboys have signed free agent cornerback Brandon Carr, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
According to Schefter, who broke the news via Twitter, the deal is worth $50.1 million over five years. Carr has been in Dallas since Tuesday night, and a deal has been expected for much of Wednesday as the two sides continued the talks at Valley Ranch.

In Carr, the Cowboys get the shutdown corner they’ve been after since at least last summer, when they made an ultimately unsuccessful play for Nnamdi Asomugha. Carr has started each game since coming into the league with the Chiefs in 2008. Over this span, he’s recorded 237 tackles and eight interceptions, including four in 2011.

Carr will replace Terence Newman, who was released by the team earlier this week.
