Cowboys Sign 2nd Round Pick Jaylon Smith

Smith was taken in the second round by Dallas despite a knee injury that will likely sideline him for all of 2016

Dallas Cowboys second round pick Jaylon Smith has signed his rookie deal, the team announced Friday.

With the signing of Smith, the 34th overall pick in the draft, Dallas has officially brought six draft picks into the fold. That leaves three picks unsigned, in the persons of third rounder Maliek Collins and fourth rounders Dak Prescott and Charles Tapper.

Along with Smith’s signing, the team announced the signing of sixth round pick, Baylor basketball player/tight end project Rico Gathers on Friday.

Per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Smith received a $2.9 million signing bonus.

Smith is not expected to play this season, after tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee in the Fiesta Bowl last year, an injury that also left him with some nerve damage—which makes him quite a question mark at this point.
