Cowboys Rank Second In Forbes List of Most Valuable Franchises

It’s not all that surprising that when Forbes released their annual listing of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, the Dallas Cowboys ranked second. They always come in second. Also unsurprisingly, Manchester United finished on top--as they seemingly always do--at a whopping $1.86 million.

According to the report, 22 years after Jerry Jones bought the team for $140 million, your Cowboys are worth  $1.81 billion. The top five is rounded out by the New York Yankees ($1.7 billion), the Washington Redskins ($1.55 billion) and Spanish soccer team Real Madrid ($1.45 million).

As Michael David Smith over at Pro Football Talk points out, eight of the top 12 franchises on the list are NFL teams--which certainly won’t make anyone, the writers at this blog included, any happier about what has already been the longest work stoppage in NFL history.
