Cowboys Notebook: September 30

*The Dallas Cowboys had their last practice of the bye week on Thursday, with the offense focusing particularly on short-yardage situations and the red zone. The defense concentrated on situations where the offense is facing a fourth-and-long. Business as usual will pick up at Valley Ranch next week, as the team prepares for the Tennessee Titans

*Tight end Jason Witten (knee), guard Kyle Kosier (knee), tackle Marc Colombo (knee), and wide receivers Dez Bryant (hip, ribs) and Sam Hurd (hip) were all absent from practice, and will be reevaluated on Monday.

*CB Jamar Wall, a Texas Tech product who spent training camp with the Cowboys was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad today. He had been signed by the Texans after being among the Cowboys final cuts, but was released earlier in the week.

*Wade Phillips said that Wednesday’s practice was "the best open-date practice that we've had since I've been here." Which, you know, is a good thing.

*A restful Miles Austin is the star of a new ESPN NFL Countdown promo, which can be seen right here:
