Cowboys Meet With SMU's Margus Hunt

Hunt blocked 8 kicks in his first 14 games with the Mustangs

Before departing Mobile, Alabama on Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys took time to meet with the tallest man there, who played his college ball just about a half hour from Cowboys Stadium, at SMU.

An Estonia native, Margus Hunt stands 6-foot-8 and weighs in at 278 pounds. He developed a well-deserved reputation as a field goal-blocking machine while at SMU, where he blocked eight kicks in his first 14 games. Naturally a discus thrower--he is a former junior world record holder in the event--Hunt switched to football upon arriving in Dallas, as SMU doesn’t have a track & field program.

Thanks in great part to his size, strength and speed (he runs a 4.7 40-yard dash), Hunt picked up the game fairly quickly, even earning MVP honors in the 2012 Hawaii Bowl, but the 25-year-old admits that he still has a ways to go in terms of learning the nuances of football.

"So much to learn," Hunt said, per ESPN Dallas. "I have to pick it up faster than that, and I feel like I have done that the last three days. I'm getting better every day and not making the same mistakes."
