Cowboys May (Or May Not Be) Talking To Plaxico Burress

Burress is currently a free agent and Dallas is looking for a No. 3 receiver

Could Plaxico Burress be a Dallas Cowboy in 2012?

It has been an increasingly talked-about idea here in Dallas over the last couple days, and now, it appears that it might not be a mere rumor founded on nothing, as these things go at this point in the year. A source in contact with ESPN Dallas says that the Cowboys have had some preliminary discussions with the former Steeler and Giant’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Further, Dallas’s executive vice president Stephen Jones told a Tyler radio station this week that the team “wouldn't totally rule out Plaxico at some point.”

On the other hand, owner and general manager Jerry Jones has come out and said the team is happy with their options at receiver behind Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, the Nos. 1 and 2 receivers, and the only truly established receivers on the roster at the moment--and that he hasn’t given any thought to bringing in Burress.

We haven't even discussed that internally at all,” Jones said of Burress. “It's not been discussed at any level in our organization one way or the other.”
