Cowboys May Deal Carpenter for Rams OT

The Dallas Cowboys are in talks to trade linebacker Bobby Carpenter, according to a report on NBC Sports' ProFootballTalk blog.

Bolstered by the draft of second-round pick Sean Lee, Carpenter, once a first-round pick who has spent most of his NFL career on the bench, is now viewed as expendable.

The Cowboys may send Carpenter to St. Louis for an equally disappointing first-round pick in the form of offensive tackle Alex Barron.

The Cowboys released long-time tackle Flozell Adams last month in favor of backup Doug Free.   Barron would add significant depth to the team's offensive line.
