Cowboys Looking at TCU CB Jason Verrett

Verrett was named 2013 Big XII co-Defensive Player of the Year

The Dallas Cowboys were one of a handful of teams to have representatives in attendance at TCU’s Pro Day on Thursday, where the biggest draw was projected first- to second-rounder, cornerback Jason Verrett.

Cornerback isn’t the most pressing need for the Cowboys--it’s generally agreed that they’ll address the defensive line or safety position in the first round--but according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas, they are interested enough to consider bringing Verrett in for a private workout.

Verrett, the 2013 Big XII co-Defensive Player of the Year, will have surgery to repair a torn labrum but Frogs’ head coach Gary Patterson doesn’t see the procedure hindering the young corner much as he prepares for his first NFL camp.

[The doctors] feel like it’s gonna be a very short process,” Patterson told TCU 360 this week. “Everybody that’s done it has been able to be back before camp. On the high road, I think that’s what he’s anticipating. That he’ll be back before camp.”
