Silver Gives Cowboys Third-Best Super Bowl LI Odds

The Cowboys will need to beat Seattle to reach the Super Bowl according to FiveThirtyEight's Nate Silver.

Silver gives Dallas a 14 percent chance to win Super Bowl LI in Houston. He also gives the Cowboys a 98 percent chance to make the playoffs and an 83 percent chance to win the NFC East.

Seattle has the best chance at 20 percent, according to their Elo rating. New England is second at 19 percent and Dallas ranks third. Kansas City ranks fourth with a 10 percent chance to win it all.

I hate talking about the Super Bowl. The Rangers had home field advantage in the 2016 MLB playoffs and got swept in the opening round. Fans spent too much time talking about the World Series.

FC Dallas had home field advantage in the MLS playoffs and didn't get past Seattle in the first round.

Last spring, the Dallas Stars had the best NHL record in the West and lost to St. Louis in a deciding Game 7 in Dallas after getting past the Minnesota in the first round.

The Metroplex is not on a good playoff roll, so forgive me for not trying to talk about Super Bowl odds for the Dallas Cowboys and their NFL-best 9-1 record.
