Cowboys Staff Head to Mobile, Al. For Senior Bowl

NFL coaches and scouts are descending en masse on Mobile, Alabama today for the Senior Bowl, the workouts for which began this morning.

The Dallas Cowboys’ representatives present include offensive line coach Hudson Houck, running backs coach Skip Peete, special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and kickers coach Chris Boniol.

As Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News points out today, this is a good sign that all of these assistants will return to Dallas in 2010. Previously, it had been widely unknown whether the hiring of Jason Garrett as head coach would lead to a great deal of turnover on the coaching staff, but aside from the departure of receivers coach Ray Sherman, the staff will look much the same in 2011 as it did in 2010.

First played in 1950, the Senior Bowl game, and the two weeks of practice preceding it have come to be thought of by many as the most important step in pre-Combine scouting for teams.

This year’s game is scheduled for January 29.
