While many families are flying into the Big Apple this week for Thanksgiving vacation, NBC 5 caught up with two families who were desperate to get out.
“That’s why our plane is empty. We get all the seats,” said 22-year-old Isaac Setton.
Victor Setton and Jack Yedid take their sons every year to the Cowboys game. Their first flight out from Newark was canceled due to bad weather.
They finally arrived in Dallas late Wednesday night. They’ll leave first thing Friday morning. And they’ll spend much of the holiday inside AT&T Stadium watching the Cowboys play.
There are eight men on the trip. The boys are ages 12 all the up to 22. The wives and daughters stay at home.
“That’s another story. A lot of money spent in the weeks before we come here. A lot of shopping for her, let me tell you,” Victor Setton said, of his wife's opinion about his trip.
Setton and Jack Yedid are longtime friends from Brooklyn, and lifelong Cowboys fans. This is the fourth year in a row they’ve spent watching the Cowboys play. They were nervous they’d miss the game because of the winter weather storm earlier in the week.

“Why don’t you just stay at home, enjoy some home cooking with your wife?”
“An opportunity to see the Cowboys play, that’s America. You can’t beat that. You can’t beat coming with your sons on a game day. That’s a once in a lifetime dream,” Setton said.
“Being with these guys the last four years on Thanksgiving is special, it’s a blessing,” Isaac Setton said.
The families will still celebrate Thanksgiving after the game, but it will be a low-key dinner in the hotel room at the airport.
“We got bread. We got instant mashed potatoes. We got noodle soup. We got our Thanksgiving turkey. And a little pastrami. That’s Thanksgiving in Dallas. Cowboys style,” Victor Setton said, showing off his turkey slices and cans of soup.
