The Dallas Cowboys are in a familiar spot--.500--after dropping their Week Two matchup with the Chiefs in Kansas City.
The Chiefs opened the game up with a scoring drive that culminated in a two yard touchdown pass from the prize of the Chiefs’ offseason, Alex Smith, to Jamaal Charles, to give Kansas City an early 7-0 lead.
Dallas answered with a 51-yard field goal by Dan Bailey to close the deficit to four at 7-3 and, then, a 55-yard drive that was capped by a two-yard touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Dez Bryant to give Dallas their first lead of the day, at 10-7.
Romo finished the day 30 of 42 passing for 298 yards and the touchdown.
Bailey bookended the second half with a pair of field goals (of 30 yards and 53 yards), but a third quarter touchdown pass from Smith to Dwayne Bowe and a fourth quarter field goal by Ryan Succop proved to be enough for Andy Reid’s Chiefs on Sunday. The final was 17-16.
The wave of turnovers that led to the Cowboys’ Week One win over the Giants dried up in the loss. Dallas lost two fumbles, and didn’t have any takeaways of their own.
