Cowboys DeCamillis Rushed to Hospital

Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis is hospitalized in Virginia.

The Cowboys tell NBCDFW.COM DeCamillis had surgery this evening to remove his appendix.

DeCamillis was rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain several hours before the game Sunday night.

The Cowboys are in Washington playing the Redskins.

You'll remember DeCamillis was injured when the Cowboys indoor training facility collapsed during a storm on May 2.

At that time he suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck, underwent surgery, but returned to his coaching duties in late June.

Wes Phillips, the team's offensive quality control coach and son of coach Wade Phillips , is handling the the special teams coaching duties.
