Cowboys Cut WR Donavon Kemp

Kemp spent 2012 on the IR after suffering a torn ACL in training camp

Wide receiver and University of Texas at El Paso product Donavon Kemp was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, after spending most of his only season with the team on injured reserve.

Kemp went on the IR after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in practice on August 24, when the Cowboys were in Southern California for a leg of training camp.

With Kemp’s release, the Cowboys have nine receivers on the roster: Anthony Armstrong, Miles Austin, Cole Beasley, Tim Benford, Dez Bryant, Danny Coale, Jared Green, Dwayne Harris and Carlton Mitchell. The team has not ruled out picking up a receiver in the draft.

Kemp is a native of DeSoto, Texas.
