Cowboys Add RB Trey Williams Off Redskins Practice Squad

The undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M will replace Joseph Randle on the roster

The Dallas Cowboys were quick to replace Joseph Randle on the 53-man roster after parting ways with the former starting running back on Tuesday afternoon.

Just hours after that move was announced, the team signed running back Trey Williams off the Washington Redskins’ practice squad. Per NFL rules, that means he’ll spend at least the next three weeks on the Cowboys’ active roster.

An undrafted rookie, Williams led Texas A&M in rushing touchdowns last year with seven while finishing second in rushing, and also served as the Aggies’ return man. He is the second former Aggie running back acquired by the Cowboys this year--they made a trade with the Seahawks for Christine Michael the week before the season started.

With the addition of Williams, the Cowboys have four running backs on the roster once again, in Williams, Michael, Darren McFadden and Rod Smith.
