The Dallas Cowboys continued making decidedly unsexy but sensible free agent signings on Tuesday, when they signed former Tennessee Titans interior lineman Joe Looney to a two-year deal.

Looney started a career-high six games with the Titans last year, but figures to be a backup center/guard option with the Cowboys, a role like that of Mackenzie Bernadeau’s last year (Bernadeau signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month.)

Looney’s agent, Andy Ross, tweeted news of the deal as well as congratulations to his client on Tuesday.

A Wake Forest product, Looney was drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round in 2012 and went to the Super Bowl with the team that same year. He was released before last season and picked up by Tennessee.
