By all accounts, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dustin Vaughan has had a great offseason. Head coach Jason Garrett has said he’s a different player than he was a year ago, when he came to the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M.
But could Vaughan give Brandon Weeden a run for his money for the No. 2 quarterback spot on the depth chart?
NFL analyst Babe Laufenberg, a former Cowboys quarterback himself, believes he might. Laufenberg discussed Vaughan’s chances of making the depth chart leap in a recent Q&A piece for the Dallas Morning News.
“... I am interested to see the progress of Dustin Vaughn this year. Very interested,” Laufenberg wrote. “I think he has a chance. Would love to see him push Weeden for the backup job, and if the Cowboys give him a legitimate chance, I think he might do just that.”
