Chad Hennings Will Announce Cowboys Second Round Pick

Hennings played nine seasons for Dallas between 1992-2000, winning three Super Bowls

Keeping with the NFL’s new tradition of having former players announce their former team’s second round pick, former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman/all-around good guy Chad Hennings will step to the podium in the second round of this week’s draft, per ESPN Dallas.

As we said, the tradition is very new, only a year old, in fact. In 2011, another former defender, Charles Haley, did the honors, telling the viewing public that Dallas had selected Bruce Carter, outside linebacker out of North Carolina.

Hennings joined the Cowboys in 1992, four years after he was drafted by the team, as he fulfilled his duty in the United States Air Force. Once he joined the Cowboys, Hennings became a quick leader and a key defensive piece of the teams that won three Super Bowls in four years. Between 1992 and his retirement in 2000, he played in 119 games (starting 72), and recorded 216 tackles and 27.5 sacks.
