Cardinals' Skelton To Make Third Career Start Saturday

Arizona Cardinals’ head coach Ken Whisenhunt told reporters on Monday that rookie quarterback John Skelton would make his third consecutive start on Christmas night, regardless of whether starter Derek Anderson was cleared to play.

Anderson had missed the previous two weeks with a concussion, which allowed Skelton to make his first two career starts. In those starts, Skelton has completed 32 of 70 passes for 342 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

A Fordham product, Skelton was drafted by the Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2010 draft. He is one of three quarterbacks to start a game for Arizona this season, which might account for their marked defensive struggles this season.

The Cardinals currently rank 31st in total offense, and 27th with respect to scoring.
