Bill Callahan gave a lot up by leaving the Dallas Cowboys following the 2014 season to go sign with the Washington Redskins as their new offensive line coach. It was not a surprise to see him leave as he seemed poised to be on his way out after having play-calling duties stripped from him in 2013.
But Callahan knows he left a lot behind, not to mention losing the title of "run game coordinator."
"We had the best line in the league," Callahan told The Dallas Morning News at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
That's a pretty widely shared opinion it seems, as the Cowboys spent their last three first-round picks on offensive linemen and saw rookie guard Zack Martin earn a Pro Bowl nod and an All-Pro selection this season. In fact, Martin could have realistically been a player for NFC Rookie of the Year honors, but that award went to a much more flashy Odell Beckham Jr., who was also very deserving.
Callahan also spoke about his former assistant, Frank Pollack, who is set to take over as the Cowboys' offensive line coach.
"I think he brings a lot to the table,” Callahan said of Pollack. “He’s experienced. He knows the position as well as anybody across the league.”
