Browns Nab QB Alex Tanney From Practice Squad

The Cowboys signed Tanney just before training camp this year

The Cleveland Browns nabbed quarterback Alex Tanney from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Tuesday, leaving just two quarterbacks at Valley Ranch.

The Cowboys signed Tanney just before training camp this year. He spent the 2012 season with the Kansas City Chiefs after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth. In five preseason games with Dallas this year, Tanney went 40 of 73 passing (a 54.8 completion percentage), a touchdown and a pair of interceptions.

"He's done a really nice job for us," head coach Jason Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. "I think we got a chance to see him in training camp do some positive things. He played in the preseason and did some positive things and he's really approached well once the season had started to take charge of that scout team and do a good job with that. He seemed to get better and better and it seems like a good opportunity for him."
