Third round pick Robert Brewster, an offensive tackle out of Ball State will miss his rookie season.
Brewster, who figured to see limited time in both the tackle and guard position, had surgery recently to repair a muscle tear in his right pectoral.
"I can't even tell you how disappointed he is," Brewster's agent, Cliff Brady said to Todd Archer of the DMN Cowboys Blog.
"The only thing that might be OK about it is that O-linemen generally don't play a lot that first year anyway. If he can be around and learn, that may be helpful. He may not miss too too much, especially since he'll be working out. I'm trying to keep him positive, 'Look, let's just take this year to work on you and your body and learn the system. You can miss a lot or as little as possible depending on how smart you are.' He's a smart kid. He just wants to play so bad."
Brewster is one of the three draft picks who have yet to sign. The Cowboys are still required to sign him to a deal on par with his draft position.
The two-time All-MAC Conference honoree did not miss a game in four years at Ball State. He suffered the injury during an off-season workout.
