Brandon Carr: “No One Expects Us to do Well”

Carr is hoping the Cowboys secondary can surprise some people in 2014

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr made a bold declaration last week when he said he intends to “take over the league” in 2014. This is quite a mouthful considering that the Cowboys defense is coming off the worst statistical season in franchise history and Carr himself struggled mightily at times.

Carr added this week that he should’ve included his teammates in the secondary in his comments, but he won’t apologize for the sentiment of the message. Basically, Carr believes he, Morris Claiborne and Orlando Scandrick have to be confident in themselves because, after 2013, not too many folks outside Valley Ranch are going to be confident in them.

“I said myself, I know I should’ve said ‘we,’ because it’s a team sport,” Carr told the team’s official website. “Hopefully my mentality can trickle over to the other guys. No one expects us to do well. So let’s take it over. We have all the tools, the camaraderie and the chemistry should be well.”
