Tell me again, why has David Buehler been taking up a spot on the roster for most of this season?
He's a kickoff specialist, right?
After re-injuring his groin, Buehler was finally placed on injured reserve and then Dan Bailey came out Sunday to show that he is an all-around kicker and how absolutely ridiculous it has been that the Cowboys have been carrying Buehler on the roster all this time.
Bailey has been a lock on field goals this year, hitting three on Sunday to go with his six touchbacks. He's now riding a streak of 22 straight made field goals dating back to the Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers when he botched a chip shot early in the game only to win the game in overtime.
If Bailey had not already sealed his spot as the Cowboys guy at kicker at least for the next few seasons (kickers' shelf lives are always questionable) Sunday's game did just that.
Don't expect to ever see Buehler in a Cowboys uniform again. Nothing against him, but we should have been writing that at the beginning of the season.
