B.W. Webb on Benching: “I Don't Blame Them”

Webb was benched after missing a tackle in the second quarter of the loss to the Saints

Rookie cornerback B.W. Webb says he totally understands why he was benched in the second quarter of the loss to the Saints, after missing a tackle on Darren Sproles’ three-yard touchdown run.

I don’t blame them,” Webb said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Webb’s misstep came with just a minute and a half left in the first half and after that score, which put the Saints on top 21-10, they didn’t look back. New Orleans scored another touchdown--again the handiwork of Sproles--before the half ran out, and put three more TDs on the board after intermission for a total of 49.

Having given up 625 yards of offense and an NFL record 40 first downs, Webb wasn’t the only member of the secondary to be self-critical after the loss. Fellow cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick, and rookie safety Jeff Heath were both vocal in their disappointment Sunday.

“It was very tough,” Webb said. “We played against a good team.”
