Austin Doubtful, Young WRs Set For More Looks

Miles Austin will likely miss the Chargers game with a hamstring issue

After missing yet another practice on Friday, it’s looking like the Cowboys will be without the services of No. 2 receiver Miles Austin against the Chargers on Sunday.

Dallas will most likely look toward a platoon of young receivers to make up for Austin’s production, a group that includes rookie Terrance Williams, league sophomore Cole Beasley and third-year man Dwayne Harris. Williams has five catches for 60 yards, Beasley has one catch for seven yards and Harris has four catches 40 yards and a touchdown.

Despite their relative inexperience, head coach Jason Garrett said this week that the team has a lot of faith in their younger receivers.

We have a lot of confidence in those guys,” Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “Sometimes you do it by play. Sometimes you do it when one guy needs a little bit of a break during the game. Other times you do it kind of by personnel packages. We’ve done it that way in the past, and we suspect we’ll do it that way again.”
