The Arlington City Council tabled a permit request for a drilling site near Cowboys Stadium.
Chesapeake Energy is seeking to put a gas well near Truman and Collins streets, just southwest of the stadium.
City Council members received a flood of e-mails this week after an online appeal urged Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to oppose the plan.
Chesapeake had agreed to hold off on drilling until after the Super Bowl.
There's no word tonight on when the proposal will come up for a vote.
