Anonymous Minnesota Viking: “We Won't Lay Down Like Dallas”

The barrage of shots to the Dallas Cowboys' collective ego just keep on coming.

In an article published today by the Chicago Sun-Times, six Minnesota Vikings’ players, speaking under the condition of anonymity, said that they wanted head coach Brad Childress to go the way of Wade Phillips and be fired. Of course, this isn’t really anything new.

Childress has weathered much criticism this season for any number of things, ranging from not challenging a controversial touchdown in a game against Green Bay, to his offseason pursuit of Brett Favre, to his decision to get rid of wide receiver Randy Moss. And though there have been whispers around the Twin Cities that Chilly had lost the locker room, until Thursday, the sentiment wasn’t so, quite literally, black-and-white.

"We know that (Brad) Childress doesn't have our backs, so why should we have his?” one player asked, via Pro Football Weekly. “We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him.”

To this point, the reader may be wondering how all of this is relevant to a Dallas Cowboys blog; and maybe it’s not, really. But in keeping with the “we’re not giving up” sentiment reflected in the players’ remarks, your Cowboys are cited for doing what the Vikings so exhaustively say they won’t. Namely, give up.

"We got too many good football players,” another player said, “and we won't lay down like Dallas.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what's known as a burn.
