Are They or Aren't They

Are they or aren't they?

Reports on one of a million celebrity gossip websites say that Cowboys receiver Miles Austin, fresh off his breakout season, and socialite Kim Kardashian – famous for … being rich? – have broken up. Other say they are dating.

According to Kim, via examiner.com, they are definitely dating.

Either way, the association is great news for Cowboys fans. Fans here are familiar with star players dating celebrities. Memories of some guy named Tony come to mind. Not that she was terribly great for his passing average, however. What happened when Tony and Jess called it quits? Romo won his first career playoff game.

So where does this news leave the Cowboys heading into the 2010 season? If you take a quick look at Kim K.’s long list of past boyfriends, you’ll find one Reggie Bush. Bush and Kardashian split up prior to the 2009 season, and Bush’s team, the Saints, won the Super Bowl in February.  Her sister Khloe is married to Lakers star Lamar Odom -- and we all know how successful they are.

Austin emerged last season as one of the best receivers in the NFL despite starting his first game until October, an overtime win in Kansas City when Austin caught 10 balls for 250 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner. He finished the season with an NFC-high 1,320 receiving yards in just 11 starts and had 11 touchdown receptions.

If the Kim trend continues, that could only mean good things for Austin and for the Cowboys, as the Jones Mahal will host Super Bowl XLV in February. If the Cowboys end up in Arlington on that night, we all might want to send a thank you card to Kim.  Whether they are still seeing each other or not.
