Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Is Headed To Jacksonville

The second-year safety was waived by Dallas last week

We can’t say that we’re all that shocked by this news, but Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is no longer a Dallas Cowboy.

A second-year safety/receiver/return man, Owusu-Ansah signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, around a week after being cut by the Cowboys to make room for fullback Shaun Chapas on the active roster. The team had hoped that they could hold onto AOA as a member of the practice squad, but he decided to move on, and will join the Jags active roster.

A cornerback at Division II Indiana (Pa.), Owusu-Ansah was selected in the fourth round of the 2010 draft and quickly converted to safety. However, after an uninspiring training camp, he was among the team’s final cuts. He stuck around as a member of the practice squad and was eventually called up to the active roster to return kicks, thanks in part to an injury to fellow practice squad member Dwayne Harris.

With the move, only three of the Cowboys’ six 2010 draft picks remain with the team.
