After Working Out for Cowboys, Brandon Boykin Denies Injury Issue

Boykin has been rumored to have a potentially career-threatening hip injury

The Dallas Cowboys worked out veteran cornerback Brandon Boykin on Wednesday, after which Boykin told Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the workout went well and that he has no injury issues.

This second point seems to be the important one.

Boykin has been on three teams in the past calendar year, despite having been solid in stops in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. He was signed by the Panthers in March, and then released in May. So what’s going on?

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it could be a potentially career-threatening hip injury that’s scaring teams away. Bouchette said in a chat recently that he had heard “he had hip problems that might end his career.”

Which brings us to today. After working out at Valley Ranch, Boykin not only denied there were injury concerns, but blamed Steelers defensive backs coach Carnell Lake started the rumor.

Boykin played in all 16 games for the Steelers in 2015, and posted 25 tackles, an interception and a sack.
