Adam “Pacman” Jones Once Spent $1 Million In A Weekend

The admission came during Jones' appearance at the Rookie Symposium

As you might have heard, Adam “Pacman” Jones was one of a handful of speakers brought in to talk to the incoming rookie class during the Rookie Symposium, and it’s from the experience that we learn that Jones claims to have once spent $1 million in a single weekend.

Colts’ tight end Coby Fleener was the guest scribe on this week’s installment of the Monday Morning Quarterback column on SI.com, filling in for Peter King. And in the piece, he gives a firsthand account of what the NFL’s Rookie Symposium is like. While it’s an overall interesting look at the still relatively new rite of passage for rookies, the part that caught our eye was this tidbit:

“[Adam ‘Pacman’] Jones regretfully recounted spending $1 million in one weekend! To which [Terrell] Owens looked at him, smiling, and said, ‘Man, you crazy!’”

To be sure, this is an astounding example of what NOT to do if you’re a young professional athlete, the sort of cautionary tale that is a lot of what the symposium is about--and the early part of Jones’ career is nothing if not a cautionary tale. Just last month, a judge ordered Jones to pay more than $11 million in damages to a pair of strip club employees who were injured in a 2007 shooting.
