Fair Park Hosts Taste of Dallas This Weekend

Taste of Dallas at Fair Park July 9 - 11

The Taste of Dallas is underway this weekend at Fair Park. The new location comes with an admission fee of $5.

"We have so much more to offer this year than we've ever offered before. Part of that is by moving to this venue, we've been able to add all this indoor space that we've never had before. We've been able to add all the chef demonstrations that we've never had before. We have wine sampling and beer sampling now," Scott Farace, Taste of Dallas general manager, said.

Organizers are expecting 100,000 people to come through during the 3-day event. About 60 Dallas-area restaurants along the Esplanade are selling sample sizes or bigger for $1 to $3. Inside the Automobile Building, some of Dallas' top chefs are doing live cooking demonstrations and giving the audience free samples afterward.

$10 will get five people in the door, if you buy your tickets at Albertson's. A portion of the proceeds goes to the American Heart Association, which is teaching people about healthy cooking and fitness in Centennial Hall.

All sorts of other characters and sports figures will be there to entertain the kids. Children also can have fun with a petting zoo and amusement rides.

NBC 5 is a sponsor of the Taste of Dallas. Children 12 and under get in free. The event runs through Sunday.
