NBC 5 and New Friends New Life invite you to attend New Friends New Life Annual Luncheon featuring Jada Pinkett Smith, on Friday, October 11 at the Omni Dallas Hotel.
Jada Pinkett Smith, an actress, producer, director, activist and humanitarian, is a long-time advocate for sex trafficking survivors and has helped shed a light on the issue here in the U.S., particularly through a 2014 documentary that looks at child sex trafficking in Atlanta.
For many Texans, the concept of sex trafficking may seem foreign. But it hits closer to home than it should, as Texas ranks second in the U.S. for the highest number of trafficking victims. New Friends New Life’s mission works to restore and empower teen girls, women and their children who have been trafficked or exploited with many programs such as a drop in Youth Resource Center that serves trafficked and high-risk teen girls, an outreach effort specifically toward boys and men, called “manKINDness curriculum” and a comprehensive women’s program that offers case management, counseling and economic empowerment.
