Former Dallas Cowboys running back and NFL Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith, will headline the luncheon where he will talk about mental health and advocate the importance of talking openly.
As a nationally recognized leader, Smith has spoken publicly on the topic of mental health issues and elevates this mission each time he speaks about our country’s mental health epidemic. His successes throughout his career in the National Football League, television broadcasting, real estate and philanthropy provide a unique platform to influence others to speak up and reach out.
Metrocare Services celebrates the organization’s 50th anniversary this year. In 1967, virtually no one spoke publicly about mental illness. In 2017, the stigma of mental illness is lessened because of those with the courage to speak publicly.
There has never been a more important time to talk about mental health. Three in four Texans have a friend or family member that has experienced a mental health issue. Metrocare aims to make a difference in lives by providing behavioral health, primary care, pharmacy, housing and supportive services.
