NBC 5 weather special prepares North Texans for severe weather.

“Tracking Texas Weather” will be presented by NBC 5/KXAS-TV on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

This comprehensive half-hour special will examine how North Texans can stay safe heading into severe weather season. 

Viewers will learn about the newest warning systems for tornadoes, flooding and hail and become better prepared for the possibility of drought and water restrictions. 

Hosted by Chief Meteorologist David Finfrock, this year’s special will also explore NBC 5’s new partnership with The Weather Channel. 

“Tracking Texas Weather” will also feature contributions from Meteorologists Steve MacLaughlin, Jennifer Lopez and Samantha Davies.

In addition, there will be an explanation and demonstration of how viewers can get up-to-the-minute radar on mobile devices and online via nbcdfw.com. 

Previous NBC 5 weather specials have won a total of ten Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Lone Star Emmy Chapter. 

“Tracking Texas Weather” will be broadcast in High-Definition, an encore presentation is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
