Confirmed Tornadoes Cause Minor Injuries, Damage in San Antonio

A severe storm system spawned two confirmed tornadoes that caused minor injuries and damaged more than 100 homes in the San Antonio area late Sunday night and early Monday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Yvette Benavides said they've received reports that one EF-1 tornado and one EF-0 tornado touched down in different parts of San Antonio, damaging more than 150 homes.

San Antonio Fire Department public information officer Joe Arrington told San Antonio station KABB-TV that many structures were damaged but only minor injuries have been reported so far.

"We were really very fortunate," said San Antonio fire spokesman Joe Arrington on the low number of injuries reported in violent storms that ripped through his city Sunday night.

Arrington said crews are still out assessing damage. No fatalities have been reported, but crews are still searching structures.
