A Tornado Watch put in place Tuesday has expired early for most of the Metroplex. At 5 p.m., the watch is still in place for parts of Ellis, Hill and Kaufman counties, including counties to the east but was to expire by 7 p.m.
A line of thunderstorms tracking to the east, brought with it rain and strong winds through the Metroplex Tuesday afternoon, but the threat of tornadoes has passed for North Texas.
At 5:30 p.m., the storms continue to push through East and Central Texas.
Oncor said at 4 p.m. that there were approximately 18,000 without power in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Rockwall and Denton counties.
The storms caused some damage to the Denton Enterprise Airport. Airport Director Quentin Hix said crews didn’t get the door of the US Aviation hanger closed quickly enough, and the wind blew it off its tracks and into the wing of a King Air plane.
A few stray showers remain a slight possibility throughout the week.
