Several school districts have already made the decision to cancel classes for Wednesday.

The major independent school districts of Arlington, Birdville, Dallas, Decatur, Denton, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw, Fort Worth, Frisco, Garland, Grand Prairie, Grapevine-Colleyville, HEB, Irving, Keller, Lewisville, Mansfield, McKinney, Northwest, Plano and Richardson are closed Wednesday.

Many other school districts are also closed and more than 750 closings or delays had been reported as of 5 a.m.

North Texas school children and parents don't have to wait for the crawl during the news to find out if their district is closed. NBCDFW offers email and SMS alerts for school, business and church closings. All you have to do is CLICK HERE to sign up and when your school, business, daycare or church closes, a text message or email will be sent to your mobile device or email inbox.

NBCDFW and NBC 5 offer a free automated system for school, business and church closings and delays that can be accessed online and over the phone for school and business administrators.

NBCDFW will not sign up new clients during an inclement weather event, so please sign up before your school or business needs to use our free closing service.
