Rains Cause Flooding, Car Damage in Collin County

Heavy rains washed out several rural Collin County roads over the past week.

After severe storms rolled through the Metroplex on Thursday night, the city of Prosper reported flooding closures along areas like Prosper Trail and Legacy.

The area near First Street and the Dallas Parkway was also a trouble spot, Bryan Garrison, the manager of The Body Shop in Prosper, said.

“It washes out almost every time and they have to shut the road down,” Garrison said, referring to the aftermath of severe storms.

The business is starting to see several cars come into the shop with hail and debris damage from the past month.

A Toyota Prius was towed to The Body Shop Friday morning with its windshield smashed because of flying debris during high winds on Thursday evening.

“[The damage runs] up the bumper, up the hood, hit the windshield and up over the top of the car,” Garrison said.

By afternoon on Friday, all streets had reopened.

As the chance for severe storms loomed over the region, city leaders from Prosper to McKinney said they’ll be monitoring conditions hour by hour through the weekend.
