Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing early Tuesday in North Texas, including the northern parts of the Metroplex.

A freeze warning will be in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday in Denton County and to the north, east and west of the Metroplex, according to the National Weather Service.

The low temperature is expected to drop to 31 degrees in Denton.

Dallas and Fort Worth are expecting lows in the mid 30s.

The earliest first freeze on record for the Metroplex is on Oct 22, which occurred in 1898. The latest first freeze was on Jan. 4, which took place in 1972.
