Severe Storms Push into Metroplex

Severe storms moved into North Texas on Monday afternoon.

The strongest cells first developed in Johnson and Tarrant counties and began pushing to the northeast. The slow-moving storms brought scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Parts of North Texas received 3 inches of rain. Dallas drivers saw floodwaters up to cars' wheel wells on the access roads at Interstate 35 near Royal Lane on Monday afternoon.

Overnight Monday should be cloudy with a 40 percent chance of scattered storms with a low of 76 degrees. A high of 90 is expected Tuesday, with wind gusts to 20 mph.

Wednesday and Thursday should be dry, but another chance for rain exists on Friday and Saturday, depending on the path of Tropical Storm Alex.
