The Collins Street bridge over Interstate 30 in Arlington is reopening in time for the holidays.

The bridge was closed in July and demolished as part of the $165.5 million reconstruction of I-30.

"The bridge is bigger than the previous bridge," said Val Lopez, of the Texas Department of Transportation. "It'll accommodate more traffic. And people should find it easier to go through this area."

The revamped overpass should ease congestion around Cowboys Stadium and Arlington's entertainment district.

The bridge was originally slated to built in phases that would reduce traffic to one lane until spring 2010. But the city and local businesses agreed instead to a complete closure, which allowed work to finish about four months sooner.
