I doubt it even makes the 2015 contract extension, look for the game to be played in Arlington by 2012. Dallas with all of it's corrupt government, is not able to cut the questionable deals any more. Its not about the capacity of dart to handle the crowds, its the amount of idiots that show up at the same time instead of being able to anticipate the crowds and just MAYBE show up earlier to avoid them. You can only put so many trains on the tracks in the same area (DOWNTOWN DALLAS) at one time.... There are TWO other RAIL LINES that run through Downtown Dallas where other people who ARENT going to the game have to travel to and from as well. Its not just all about you people who JUST HAVE TO GO TO THE GAME BECAUSE ITS WHAT PEOPLE DO. Friggin Sheep... Theres where the alternate plan would have come in handy for one. Secondly, if they were &quot;stuck&quot; on DART for 3 hours, do the math. It means they arrived at the location where they parked just before the game started. Again, bad planning and unable to anticipate and take into consideration of possible delays due to large crowds all going to the same place at the same time. Im willing to bet that the location where the Green Line and Central Expressway cross became a sudden issue due to the number of cars also heading to Fair Park from all points North of Dallas (And OKLAHOMA) More than likely, there were several instances of cars sitting on the tracks as the train was about to cross, therefore stopping the train till the cars could move out of the way, hence the delays. If this was in fact an issue, perhaps a better plan would have been to detour the traffic that would have crossed said trains path to an alternate route, that way it would not cause such delays. But seeing as this was the first year for the Green Line to run through this area, apparently such things were not anticipated. So the problem still was not the fault of DART, but in fact a combination of faults by individuals both in cars and on the trains not anticipating the large crowds heading to the State Fair as well as the City Of Dallas for not planning ahead. But then again, since when is the lack of Anticipating such things like this something the City of Dallas has ever been good at? Its rare, if ever. Unfortunately DART pushed the advertising but probably was not expecting the ridership that occured. The passengers should have also taken into account the fact that the Green line is NEW and untested with such an event to that location. If it had been me and I had waited at the station for more than 30-45 minutes I would have gotten back into my car and driven. I have heard that the traffic was pretty decent considering the event. Had everything been working as it should there would have the same amount of passengers and still been delays. I have lived in many cites with and without a transit system such as this and Dallas should be happy it has something that works reasonably well. Had there not been a train they would complain about traffic and parking. Worth on the Tre was very good. It was the whole Green line mess that put a damper on everything. If you are going to advertize something, then have the facilities to keep it moving. Finally got out of line at caught a cab after fair officials told us there were no cabs, that we would have to call one. We made it home before midnight, no thanks to Dart. I have ridden the light rail for years and have never had a problem. They can only put so many trains on the track at a time no matter what, and if you can't figure it out that when there is a massive crowd and you wait until the last minute to go that there might be delays, that makes you an idiot. We went thru this exact same experience, but on a smaller scale, LAST NIGHT. The Green Line train exchange at Pearl Station was packed and only running every 18 minutes. A handful of families with strollers and small children (including ours) had to miss the first available train because of people jumping in front of the strollers and slower children to get on the train to Fair Park.

The return trip was WORSE! Trains from Fair Park back to Pearl were packed with tired, rude people. A DART police woman was kind enough to move all the "stroller families" down to the end of the platform so that they had a fighting chance of getting on the next train. Then, once we arrived back at Pearl to get on the Red Line, those trains were only running every 24 minutes! Can you imagine a platform full of people and families at 11:00 on a Friday night waiting for a train to take them home?

I wrote DART today to let them know how atrocious our experience was . All told, we spent almost 3 hours either waiting for, riding on, or missing and then waiting for the next train! They should have had twice the trains dedicated to the TX/OU riders, and should have foreseen the need for more frequent trains on the last weekend of the Fair (and the first weekend with decent weather in weeks!)

Theres where the alternate plan would have come in handy for one. Secondly, if they were "stuck" on DART for 3 hours, do the math. It means they arrived at the location where they parked just before the game started. Again, bad planning and unable to anticipate and take into consideration of possible delays due to large crowds all going to the same place at the same time. Im willing to bet that the location where the Green Line and Central Expressway cross became a sudden issue due to the number of cars also heading to Fair Park from all points North of Dallas (And OKLAHOMA) More than likely, there were several instances of cars sitting on the tracks as the train was about to cross, therefore stopping the train till the cars could move out of the way, hence the delays. If this was in fact an issue, perhaps a better plan would have been to detour the traffic that would have crossed said trains path to an alternate route, that way it would not cause such delays. But seeing as this was the first year for the Green Line to run through this area, apparently such things were not anticipated. So the problem still was not the fault of DART, but in fact a combination of faults by individuals both in cars and on the trains not anticipating the large crowds heading to the State Fair as well as the City Of Dallas for not planning ahead. But then again, since when is the lack of Anticipating such things like this something the City of Dallas has ever been good at? Its rare, if ever.
