A driver was critically injured Friday after a rock hauler rolled over and crushed his car on Interstate 35E in Dallas.

The crash happened at about 2:05 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I35E at Saner Avenue.

At least three fire trucks were on the scene of the crash as firefighters worked to extricate the driver of what appeared to be a Toyota Corolla.  A woman who was in the passenger's seat was able to escape before emergency crews arrived.  She was not seriously injured.

Chopper 5 video showed that the rock hauler's rear tires came to a rest on top of the vehicle.  A tow truck was used to help firefighters lift the end of the truck into the air so that the driver could be freed from the wreckage.

The driver of the car was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was in critical condition. The driver of the rock hauler was not injured. He was taken to the Lew Sterrett Justice Center for alcohol testing, which is standard procedure.

There was no word on how the wreck happened.

Traffic along I-35E was backed up for miles as crews worked to clear wreckage.  All the lanes reopened at about 4:40 p.m.
